Dave and I had a great time hiking Manitou and Anthony’s Nose, though at times it felt like climbing as much as hiking. The scrambles, both up and down, were fun but difficult toward the end.
I guess I am asking, what do you guys think about that? Which would you prefer? A mixture? Should we try for more challenging climbs, steeper elevations? Or longer, flatter journeys?
I know we can do both. Just trying to gauge opinion.
I enjoyed the views on the Manitou peaks over Anthony’s Nose, the downside of course is the traffic as the trail follows routes 6 for a bit. I believe the lesson I took away from the journey was to avoid out-and-back scrambles as the return trip can get pretty tricky (I.e., climbing/sliding down on my backside), this was my first such scramble – the other two have been loop trails.
Personally, my sweet spot is 5 – 8 miles with some steep elevations but not necessarily scrambles.
